Something really exciting happened at #TheEvansNest last Thursday…..well, you might not think it’s the most exciting thing in the world, but it’s been something that we have been needing since we got married….we finally have a REAL BED!
When we moved to Omaha from Houston we upgraded from a Queen bed to a King bed and holy cow….there is a HUGE difference! I had no idea how big of a difference it really was and also…how expensive a platform for a bed can actually be (especially a King)! It took us a couple of months to find the best platform for our bed that fit our style + our price point.
It’s kind of fun being newlyweds and trying to build up our little home together – it teaches us teamwork and patience. Seriously a lot of patience lol! When we had our Queen bed we had an old metal frame (thanks mom & dad!) and a cheap box spring! It totally worked fine and was definitely what we needed, but I was really excited to get a platform with a pretty headboard & we finally found the perfect one!

The platform we chose is a Modern Farmhouse style and is a neutral/ivory color! I wanted to keep things very natural, cozy, and bright! The headboard is upholstered and tufted – my dream! I really wanted a pretty headboard haha. But what I really cared about was the reviews + the price. I wanted the platform to have atleast a 4-star rating and really wanted it to be under $350!
When you start building up the pieces in your home from scratch, it’s sometimes hard to find pieces that hit a good price-point that you can actually afford and feel good about purchasing! At the end of the post I have listed a bunch of different platforms + headboard that have good reviews and are the perfect price point if you are just starting out on your own in a home like Nathan and I! It’s hard starting out on your own and it’s even harder to have to search for the best deal on big purchases!
Also, I have to tell you about the mattress we upgraded to because it has seriously changed our sleeping for the better! We received the Leesa Sleep mattress and it has been the best thing – at first I wasn’t sure if it was actually as great as everyone was telling me or the reviews I was reading, so I we tested it out for a good 3 weeks to get adjusted. Sometimes you just have to try it out for yourself!! I can now say that I am officially obsessed with all of it – the mattress, our pillows, and the blanket (it’s kind of like a weighted blanket – magical!!). If you are looking for a mattress upgrade, I would highly recommend investing in the Leesa mattress!
