I’m SO excited to finally be writing this & if you didn’t already know…..WE’RE HAVING A BABY!!! Such an incredible blessing & we are SO thankful. I wanted to use this post to just write about how we found out, what the first few weeks were like, and what’s going on now 🙂
First off – I know that blog posts like this, as well as Instagram posts, can be tough for people who are having some struggles getting pregnant. I just want you to know that I have been praying for you & we are not taking this blessing of a baby lightly. We are incredibly thankful and grateful for our situation. Thank you so much for being here & if you need to take a break from my content I completely understand!
We have been SO excited to tell you guys how we found out and all of the fun stuff! Let’s dive in 🙂 … the day that changed our lives – November 30th, 2020! This was the day I got a positive pregnancy test out of NOWHERE – I was not expecting it at all lol I took the test because Nathan & I were going to have a glass of wine and I just wanted to be safe!! I was honestly 110% expecting to see a negative – I literally just wanted to make sure!
Well, that’s not how the tests went….lol 2 pink lines popped up RIGHT AWAY & I was SO SHOCKED. I always thought that I would kind of have an idea beforehand that I would be pregnant & then take a test….but I look back on how it all happened and I’m so glad I wasn’t expecting to see a positive test, but just completely surprised! I also always thought I would tell Nathan in a fun way & I was in such shock that I just showed him the test ha!! I was bawling (happy tears) and I’m pretty sure he didn’t say anything for atleast 1 minute – it was one of the happiest & purest moments!
For the next few days it just felt SO surreal. Neither of us could believe it & we both started praying for a strong, healthy, growing baby! I went through a couple of weeks where I was really mentally trying to accept the fact that we are having a baby – I was scared & almost grieving the life that we had with it just being Nathan & I. It sounds silly, but things really are going to change (for the best)! I love our marriage, our life, and our routines, so I think it just took a few weeks to process. Leaning into God’s plan for our lives & trusting that His timing is perfect have given me such peace about everything though!
We had our first ultrasound at 9.5 weeks & got to hear babies heartbeat! It was 180 bpm & we got to see baby E wiggle around a little bit ;’) I think that’s where it REALLY sunk in that our lives are about to change in the best possible way! Also – once the nausea hit it definitely became more real (I’m writing a whole other post on how our 1st trimester was, my nausea, and what I did to help!).
The last couple of weeks have been filled with excitement, prayers, happy tears (I blame pregnancy lol), & lots of extra rest. This time is so sweet and special, so I’m just trying to soak it all in as much as I possibly can! Thank you all for the sweetest words, prayers, and excitement about Baby E – he/she is already SO loved & I can’t wait to keep you guys updated through our journey to becoming parents!
